Finding boarding for a rabbit, ferret, or pocket pet is hard. Most kennels only take dogs and cats. Premier Pet Lodge was founded by Kathleen Tollison, who has spent her entire life in animal care. Her father is a practicing veterinarian in Houston, Texas, and after college she joined his hospital team, serving 16 years as Hospital Manager before opening the lodge here in Utah. That veterinary-rooted background matters even more with exotic and small animals, who are sensitive to stress, temperature, and changes in routine, and who depend on a caretaker who understands their needs.
We treat every small pet as the individual they are. Because pocket pets can’t tell us what’s wrong, we rely on your detailed care instructions and our own careful attention to keep them eating, drinking, and resting comfortably throughout their stay.

How Exotic Boarding Works
To keep your small pet’s environment as familiar and low-stress as possible, exotic and pocket pet guests stay in their own habitat from home. You’ll bring your pet’s cage or enclosure, their usual bedding materials, and the food they normally eat, along with written care instructions so our team can follow their routine exactly. If your pet’s food needs to be refrigerated, we’re happy to accommodate that.
Don’t have a travel-friendly enclosure? Depending on the species, we can provide housing for an additional cost — just ask when you book so we can have everything ready for arrival.
What to Bring for Your Small Pet
A smooth check-in starts with packing the essentials. For exotic and pocket pet boarding, please bring:
- Your pet’s cage or enclosure (or ask us about housing rental in advance)
- Bedding and habitat materials they’re used to
- Enough of their regular food for the length of the stay (refrigerated items welcome)
- Written care instructions covering feeding amounts and times, handling preferences, and any medications or special needs

A Calm, Secure Space Away From the Dogs and Cats
Many pocket pets are prey animals, and being near barking dogs or curious cats can be stressful. At Premier Pet Lodge, small animals are kept in a quiet, secure space designed to keep them calm and comfortable. Unlike our dog and cat guests, pocket pets don’t have vaccination requirements to board — but we do require complete written care instructions at drop-off so we can give your pet exactly the care they need.
Check-In and Check-Out Times
We keep arrivals and departures structured so every dog gets a calm, attentive welcome and send-off.
- Check-in: Monday–Friday, 2:00–5:30 PM; Saturday & Sunday, 3:00–4:30 PM.
- Check-out: Monday–Friday, 7:00–11:00 AM; Saturday & Sunday, 7:30–11:00 AM.
Early check-in or late check-out during business hours incurs a $15 fee, and after-hours check-in/out is unavailable. A $3 per pet, per day surcharge applies during peak boarding seasons.
